Yves Vincent: Home
Guitarist, composer, arranger, MIDI synthesizer programmer, recording engineer and producer, Yves Vincent was born in Montreal, Canada. His father, an opera singer, and his mother, a concert pianist gave him his first guitar when he was 11 years old.
"I remember the moment!" Yves recalls. "We had a music store and a music school at the time and one day, one the guitar students scheduled at one o'clock didn't show up so, rather than sit down and wait, the teacher picked up his nylon-string guitar and started playing this beautiful classical piece."
"Wow... the man can play" I thought!
"So I sat on the couch for about 30 minutes totally mesmerized by his playing and found my whole being going into some sort of spiritual-out-of-this-world state, that place where you know something real big just hit you dead on!"
"And that was it for me!"
"After he ends the piece and I come back to the world I lived, I turn around.
My father had been standing there too. He had seen the whole experience! And he knew that place I had been for he had been there many times in his exciting opera singer career.
So I tell him: "Dad, this is what I want to do!"
He looks at me with this all-knowing grin, pointing toward the music store, and says, "well, go ahead and pick the guitar you want!"
"And life was never the same after that day!"
Yves had his own band called "The Wheels" when he was 16, playing rock hit records of the time in dance halls around town. He also started teaching guitar to beginning students and did so for two years until a tragedy struck the family in the summer of 1963. Both his parent were hit in a head-on collision.
However, through the adversity, he continued to operate the store and the school for over a year. He sold both businesses to start working as a musical director with popular singers in Montreal.
Among Yves' credits: Winner of Best Song at "Le Festival International de la Chanson a Paris," and "The Japan International Song Festival." He has composed, arranged and scored music soundtracks for Canadian Films; produced three #1 hit records with popular Canadian artists at the time and has conducted orchestras for popular singer in Jackson, Houston, Toronto, Paris, London, Tokyo, New-York and Los Angeles.
From 1985 to 1990, he owned and operated Music Media Productions in Houston, TX, a 24-track master studio where he composed and produced music jingles for radio and television commercials. Yves gained further recognition as the recipient of several ADDY and A.I.R. Awards for Best Jingle and Best Production for radio and TV commercials. He sold his facility in 1990 and moved to San Diego to enjoy a well deserved break.
"Well" ... Yves says ... "that retirement time didn't last very long. A friend was moving his recording studio from Colorado to a little town north of San Diego and I found myself totally immersed in it again."
He did a lot of studio work in town until he started his solo career, recording his first CD as a guitarist. He started playing his music all over San Diego, and because he played at well known international venues, it enabled him to sell his music to tourists from all over the world.
He has recorded ten CDs since then.
And now, the time has come to take his music on the road and start doing concerts, the next phase in his career.
And this is where we find him at this time.
